In the Republican nominating convention for the 2021 Virginia Governor’s race, CMS was retained by an independent expenditure committee to highlight the not-so-conservative legislative agenda of the former Speaker of the House, Kirk Cox, then a candidate for governor.

n previous legislative sessions, Speaker Cox, with a coalition of Democrats and a handful of moderate Republicans, pushed Medicaid expansion, shepherded it to passage, and handed an unfortunate policy win to former Governor Ralph Northam, an extreme progressive Democrat.

Voters in the 2021 Republican nominating convention deserved to know the truth about the bad policy pushed by Cox, so CMS designed mail to do just that. Whether due to this or other mailers we did for this group, Cox lost.
